Agility Come-Play-Stay! bases our agility training program on building a solid and necessary foundation in order to have success and safety on the agility field. Foundation-based training means that the process may seem slower in the beginning but both human and dog will have a solid understanding of all of the obstacles and proper course navigation in order to have success. We do not believe in putting dogs on equipment before they have the skills necessary to work closely and correctly with their human. A solid foundation makes a strong and successful future!



Come Play Stay offers the following agility classes:

First Stop: Agility Jumpstart - 5 weeks, $110 ($90 for repeaters)
Prerequisites—basic obedience class (recommended SD1 and SD2) dogs must be minimum 11 months of age. It will be assumed that dogs have a basic understanding of sit, down, stay, and come-when-called. All participants must attend an Introduction to Dog Training lecture before attending. Foundation for a great agility partnership! Shaping games for body awareness and clicker savvy, flatwork for stellar communication on course, optimal reinforcement usage for ultimate drive, and impulse control for future start line and contact performances.

Second Stop: Agility Obstacle Elements - 6 weeks, $120
Prerequisites—Minimum 12 months of age. Agility Jumpstart and instructor approval (dogs and humans must be shaping savvy and have some toy drive). Recommended Core Strength and Stretching workshop with CFZ.
Training of proper performance of all AKC agility obstacles. 2 on 2 off contact performances for the dogwalk and A frame, safe execution of the teeter-totter, as well as an automatic down-stay on the table, both tunnel types, and proper jumping style will be taught.

Third Stop: Weaving Two By Two - 6 weeks, $120
Prerequisites—First and Second stops. This class is only recommended for those wishing to pursue competition. CFZ injury prevention workshop strongly recommended.
Susan Garrett’s weave pole training method, 2x2, will be taught in this fast-paced class aimed for handlers looking to compete with their dogs. It is recommended that all participants have at least one set of two poles at home. If your dog’s toy drive and shaping skills are still lacking, additional work will be required prior to taking this class.

Fourth Stop: Agility Skills - 6 weeks, $120
Prerequisites—stops 1, 2, and 3 plus instructor approval. Dogs must be comfortable on all pieces of equipment. CFZ warm up/cool down workshop strongly recommended.
This class is geared toward sharpening foundation skills to make those skills work for you in sequencing. Common sequences and patterns such as serpentines, obstacle discrimination, pinwheels, and other jump configurations will be covered. Applying those handling skills to real life courses is the emphasis!

Fifth and Final Stop: Agility All-Stars - Ongoing 6 week sessions, $120 each
Prerequisites—successful completion of all four previous stops. Additional advanced classes strongly recommended.
An ongoing coursework class for preparing dogs for competition and maintaining competitive skills during competition.

Advanced Weavers - 6 weeks, $120
Prerequisites—completion of stop 3, and ability to weave four poles in a line.
This class is aimed at advancing weave pole skills, with the end goal being a dog that is proficient on 12 poles, regardless of handler position or entry difficulty.

Advanced Contacts - 4 weeks, $100
Prerequisites—Successful completion of stop 2.
This class is aimed at gaining distance and duration on the contact equipment, with the end goal being a confident and consistent contact performance on all three pieces of equipment.

Toy Love - One hour workshop, $25
Prerequisites—Agility Jumpstart
For dogs that won’t play with their handlers! Learn to love toys and handler-focused play.

Shaping Savvy - One hour workshop, $25
Prerequisites—Agility Jumpstart
For handlers and dogs that struggle with the concept of shaping.

Various Canine Fitness Zone workshops for agility will be offered frequently, it is recommended that all agility students participate in these workshops to prevent injury and encourage wellness in their canine agility partners.
